Angel Protector Chapter 18 : Doubts

Christy walked up to Michael from behind him while he was giving some instructions to a few angels. He dismissed them and turned to Christy.

"Michael, I've sealed the book."
"That's faster than expected, good job."
"Thanks."
"By the way, the minor tremor just now?"
"It was the reaction from both books."
"Is it under control?"
"Don't worry, it is."
"The situation now isn't too good."
"What do you mean?"
"We suffered many casualties from that attack."
"The castle has taken some damage too I see." said Christy as she turned to see the building behind her, parts had been chipped off.
"Repairs are already in progress."

A few angels were flying over the damaged parts, using their wands to repair the damage. The building little by little was being restored.

"If Lucifer makes an attack now while we are doing repairs, i fear we might not be able to take the assault."
"But is that really his plan? Losing the book just to attack Divinia while we are doing repairs."
"I'm not sure...I'm really not..."
"But it's a risk to lose the book, doesn't he know that?"
"What do you mean by that christy?"
"The power or darkness will decrease without the book of darknes in their possession."
"Hmmm."
"What could he be planning?"

"We'll see, till then we must gather back our forces."

Back in Ayumi's house, Sera was sleeping at the side of Ayumi. Suddenly, a gentle stir from Ayumi made Sera wake up. She tried to open her eyes but got blinded by the lights, she saw the outline of someone but she could not recognise who it was.

"Ayumi, you're finally awake."
"Sera is that you?'
"Yes it's me."

She sat up on her bed and saw someone lying down on the couch. She got up from her bed and walked towards the couch, much to the irritation of Sera.

"Hey you should stay in bed."
"Sakura? Why is she here?"
"Erm..."
"Sera! What's going on here?"
"I'm not sure either, but it seems she's the seraphim of water."
"What?!"
"And she's the one who risked her own life to save yours."
"Save me? What happened?"
"You got bitten by a vampire."
"Sakura..."

Tears streamed from the eyes of Ayumi as she looked at her friend lying there looking so weak and vulnerable.
"Ever since we were young, you've always protected me."
"Ayumi..."
"And now it almost cost you your life...Why Sakura? Why can't I be the one protecting you?"

As her tears dropped one by one unto Ayumi's face, her eyes started to open slowly. Sakura's hand slowly held Ayumi's hand. Ayumi stopped crying and looked at Sakura. She was smiling at her.
"Sakura?? You're alright!"
"Yes i am, Ayu...I'm happy you're ok too."

They embraced each other and Ayumi cried again in the arms of Sakura. Sera smiled and heaved a sigh of relief when he saw that both of them were awake.
"Those two are so close, I'm glad they're both alright." Thought Sera in his mind.

After the two girls settles down, Ayumi began to stare at Sakura seriously. Sakura already knew what was on her mind and asked the question on Ayumi's mind.
"You're wondering why I'm the serpahim of water aren't you?"
"Yes, aren't you wondering why im the seraphim of wind?"
"Well at first I was, but it didn't bother me."
"Our powers, I wonder how we got them."
"I've thought about that too."
"You seem so strong Sakura, how long have you known about it?"
"Remember the day our village was attacked by some unknown source and was burnt to the ground?"
"Yes...only two of us made it out alive."
"And then the princess came along and helped us."
"Princess Evie...I wonder how's she."

In another part of the country, something was happening in the castle. A girl was running through the dark corridors of the castle, trying to open room after room that she came to, but all the doors seemed to be locked. A soldier on duty saw her running and tried to stop her.

"Princess what's wrong, why are you running?"
"Something is chasing me!"
"I don't see anything."
"It's coming!"

The princess continued running and found a empty unlocked room. She ran in and locked herself inside. She hears the scream of the soldier not long after she enters the room. She shivers in fear and hides under the bed, cold sweat dripping slowly unto the floor.
